‘Aluminium
in New Homes’
AM Profiles has recently completed a new development in
Lincoln designed by CAD Associates of Lincoln for Stamford
Homes which effectively uses aluminium curtain walling,
windows and doors in a low rise residential application.
Alistair McBain of AM Profiles explains, “Over the last
year we have seen a significant increase in these smaller,
low-rise, residential developments in rural areas of the
country. The developments follow high specifications for
fenestration, which normally include either aluminium or
timber aluminium composite windows. Without a doubt, these
systems are seen as being an ‘up market’ choice for home
owners and investors as aluminium and timber offer
excellent green credentials for sustainability.”
The ‘Kaye Hinchcliffe KAYEWALL 46’ aluminium curtain wall
system used on the project offers high levels of heat and
sound insulation, whilst offering exceptional slim 46 mm
sight lines for maximum transparency. Alistair continues,
“Since the beginning of the year we have seen an increase
in enquiries for aluminium and timber aluminium composites
in the new homes sector which is very encouraging as we are
now able to supply a full range of doors, windows and
curtain walling in composite format.”
Recent research from Palmer Market Research has shown that
at least half of all UK flats and apartment construction in
2007 has been completed using aluminium windows doors and
curtain walling.
